Michael is a very experienced lawyer with a large general practice. His areas of expertise include business and property matters, complex relationship property disputes, estate planning, wills, trusts and estates. His clients are diverse, and include individuals and families, businesses in many industries, and public sector entities.
Michael genuinely enjoys turning his mind to a gnarly legal challenge, whether that involves drafting a complex commercial contract or helping his clients resolve a complicated dispute. He is known for his calm logic, strategic thinking and efficient practice style. Less well-known, except within the halls of Thomson Wilson, are his interest in art and his talent for producing outrageous costumes at the firm’s Christmas parties.
Michael practiced a wide variety of law in his formative years, and his clients benefit from the breadth and depth of that experience. He qualified as a lawyer in 1981 and worked for a Bay of Plenty law firm before shifting back to Whangarei, becoming a partner at Thomson Wilson in 1987.
