Matthew Ridgley
Associate
Matthew is an Associate with expertise in Criminal Law. He undertakes both private and Legal Aid criminal work. Matthew provides robust and considered representation for clients facing any type of criminal charge, regularly appearing as Counsel in the Whangarei District Court’s jury trial jurisdiction. Beyond conducting jury trial matters, Matthew has represented clients in the High Court and Court of Appeal on a wide variety of issues.
Matthew takes pride in his decisive, thorough approach to practicing law and his ability to articulate difficult legal concepts in a common-sense, easy to digest way.
Born and raised in Northland, Matthew joined Thomson Wilson in 2018 after completing his studies at Victoria University of Wellington and making the decision to return north.
